Overview

Onyx FR is a flame-retardant nylon filled with short carbon fibre, intended for parts that must resist burning. Its FR-A variant adds lot traceability and has been qualified by NCAMP for aerospace, transportation and automotive use.

Features

  • Flame retardant UL 94 V-0 (>= 3 mm)
  • UL Blue Card
  • Reinforceable with continuous fiber
  • NCAMP qualified (FR-A on X7)
  • Lot-level traceability (FR-A)

Characteristics

  • High tempHeat deflection temperature of 100 °C or more — keeps its shape in hot environments.
  • Flame retardantUL 94 rating of V-0, V-1 or V-2 — stops burning on its own once the flame is removed.
  • Carbon fiberReinforced with carbon fiber for extra stiffness and a matte finish.

Certifications

  • UL 94 V-0 (datasheet rating)Flammability rating from the UL 94 test. V-0 is the highest common rating: the flame goes out within 10 seconds with no burning drips.

"Datasheet" means the rating is stated on the manufacturer's datasheet, not a separate certificate. Ask us for the certificate if you need it for an audit.
